Please join us in congratulating Jon Alexander and Nicole Reed, Tec’s most recent team members to be recognized for their leadership and contributions to the organization. Both Jon and Nicole joined Tec's family as part of the recent merger with W.E. Monks & Co. Engineers a Columbus-based engineering firm providing electrical, HVAC, plumbing, geothermal design, technology systems, energy auditing and sustainable design, to clients in health care, higher education and industrial sectors. W.E. Monks is now a subsidiary of Tec Inc. known as Monks Engineering, LLC.
Jon Alexander Promoted to Senior Associate
As senior associate, Jon will have an active role in leadership discussions focused primarily on continuous improvement to meet the needs of our clients, staff acquisition, and ongoing staff development.
Jon joined W.E. Monks & Co in October 1995 after seven years experience as a protection and control engineer for American Electric Power (AEP) in Columbus, Ohio. Since 1995 he has been engaged in HVAC design and project management for schools, hospitals, commercial buildings, and industrial plants. He has gained experience in many different HVAC system applications, including geothermal systems, and maintains a current knowledge of technology and applicable codes.
He is committed to efficient system design and owner value both in first-costs and life cycle costs. He is a Certified Geothermal Designer (CGD) by the Association of Energy Engineers in conjunction with the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association and a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
Nicole Reed Promoted to Associate
Nicole Reed will join Tec’s leadership team as an associate, the first step on the path to become a principal of the firm. Associates are an integral part of Tec's management team participating in many business discussions. The primary purpose of this position is to gain understanding of Tec's goals, ideals, and philosophy.
Nicole is a senior electrical engineer sharing the management responsibilities for the electrical engineering department of Monks Engineering, LLC. She is actively involved in the engineering and design of electrical systems to ensure integrity, energy efficiency and environmental consciousness with the projects Monks designs. Her expertise in all aspects of electrical design for institutional, industrial, and commercial applications ensures ongoing client satisfaction through the successful completion of projects.
Nicole joined W.E. Monks & Co in 2006 as an electrical engineer and has since become proficient in sustainable design, having designed electrical systems for numerous LEED certified projects. She is actively involved in Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) and is a Registered Communications Distribution Designer, the most prestigious of all BICSI credentials. As an RCDD, Nicole has proven her ability to design, integrate and implement ICT and related infrastructure components across multiple disciplines and applications. Nicole is also a member of the Columbus Chapter of Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES).
