Tec Inc. has had a strong presence at several satellite hospitals in the UH system.
Geneva Medical Center
The Surgical Suite and Sterile Corridor project included improvements to the existing space; expanding the existing operating rooms; and providing new lighting, air conditioning, surgical lights, and ceiling mounted service columns.
The new MRI and X-Ray Unit improvements project consisted of a building expansion and renovation of the existing X-ray department to accommodate new equipment. Existing electrical and mechanical utility services were relocated and additional capacity provided to accommodate the expanded space.
Tec provided engineering services for and emergency generator study and subsequent improvements to add mechanical equipment and air-handling units to the emergency power system.
The Medical Lab utility system study included Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection engineering services to determine the existing conditions and recommended improvements for the medical lab renovations. The areas surveyed included Microbiology Lab, Office and Storage, Core Lab, and space designated for a New Lab. The final report documented the existing conditions, and recommendations for improvements to accommodate the proposed construction program.
Renovation and expansion of the existing Emergency Department. The engineering design and resulting construction was required to be phased to allow the department to remain in operation during the construction period.
The department was expanded into the existing ambulance entrance, with a new ambulance canopy established to the south. All existing treatment, trauma, procedure and triage rooms were renovated, and six new treatment rooms were provided. The existing nurses station was repositioned and reconfigured to provide improved visibility and control. Expanded waiting and family consoling offices were also provided. The mechanical and electrical infrastructure was reviewed and modified to accommodate the expansion. The medical gas system was expanded and modified to accommodate the additional treatment rooms.
Conneaut Medical Center
Surgery Suite improvements consisted of expanding Operating Room #3, and providing new general illumination, surgical lights and controls, and surgical service columns. HVAC for the Operating Room was upgraded with a new unit and laminar flow diffusers.
An HVAC Study for Operating Rooms #1 and #2 consisted of site investigation to determine the cause of improper environmental conditions in the two operating rooms. Our survey uncovered problems with the cooling coils in the air handlers, the outside air to the units and the filtering. Tec provided recommendations to correct the deficiencies and improve the quality of the air flow in the Operating Rooms.
Bedford Medical Center
The Emergency Department required the complete renovation of the existing space and included an addition to expand the waiting area and provide better access for ambulance drop off. The completely renovated space included upgrading all the exam, treatment, triage and procedure rooms, reclaiming space to allow new exam/treatment rooms. The existing nurses station was reconfigured to improve visibility and access. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and medical gas systems were expanded to accommodate the renovated and expanded department.
The MRI Expansion project required a new building addition on the west side of the hospital. The new addition included the MRI treatment room, patient waiting and holding areas, office, and toilet room. New mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection services were provided.
The Kitchen and Cafeteria renovation included new lighting for the cafeteria and providing for the specific power requirements of the new kitchen equipment. The HVAC system was modified with new diffusers and ductwork modifications to improve airflow and environmental conditions. Plumbing design incorporated requirements for the new and relocated kitchen equipment.
